“Happiness, how do you get to be happiness. How you get to find love. Real love. Love, love, love.”

Goldfrapp

Being a Warwickshire wedding photographer takes me to some beautiful locations and two of the most gorgeous featured in the lovely day that was Rebecca and George’s wedding day.

Starting off at the absolutely stunning Welcombe Hotel in Stratford upon Avon for Rebecca’s preparations. It’s set in its own 150 acres of landscaped gardens and really is a wedding photographers dream location. From there we were off to the equally stunning Holy Trinity Church. WOW! I have photographed a lot of weddings in churches over the past few years but this is one of the most beautiful and beguiling spaces I’ve had the pleasure to work(!) in. Not just the beauty but also the history of the place is magical. Over 800 years old, one of England’s most visited churches, Shakespeare’s place of baptism, Shakespeare’s burial site!

Interesting fact (for me anyway!). I thought everyone knew Shakespeare was born in Stratford upon Avon. But after the ceremony we were making our way back to the Welcombe Hotel for the reception and I heard two of Rebecca and George’s guests ordering a taxi so I offered them a lift (hey I’m a nice guy!). Driving through the pretty town centre on a very hot August day with thousands of tourists mingling about we got chatting and I found out they were from Kent blah blah blah. Then one of them observes:

“Busy place here isn’t it”.

“Yeah it’s big with the old tourists, you know the whole Shakespeare thing”.

“Shakespeare thing”?

“Yeah you know Shakespeare being born here and everything”.

“Oh right cool, Shakespeare was born here”?

“Yeah, he was baptised and buried in the church we’ve just been in”.

“No way”!

Bloody kids. (to be fair they were from Kent, I’m sure they know more about Canterbury than me).

Now, I know what you’re thinking “hey Damian I landed on here to see some of Rebecca and George’s wedding photography”. So as Shakespeare himself might have said “alright, alright wind your neck in”!
