“We were both young when I first saw you. I close my eyes and the flashback starts. I’m standin’ there, on a balcony in summer air. See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns. See you make your way through the crowd and say, “Hello”. Little did I know”.
Autumn at Shustoke Barns is a great time of year to get married, it’s not quite as hot as the summer months but still warm enough to enjoy the courtyard and surrounding areas that you have access to like the wheat field, avenue of festooned trees and the long drive. These all give great opportunities to mix up your wedding photos so they haven’t all be taken in the same light, in the same place, at the same time of the day, so it gives you a bit of variety to your shots.
I’ve written so many blogs about Shustoke (my main one is here) that it’s not easy to think of new things to write about. One of my loves of the barns and something I never get tired of writing about though is the fantastic window light that streams into the barn during the ceremony.
Charlotte and Matthew got married in early September and it really was a lovely day. I started with Charlotte and the bride squad at the nearby Granary at Dovehouse which is a great characterful getting ready space. From there it’s just a 10 minute drive to the venue. Because September nights are still fairly warm it gave us the chance to go outside and do some night portraits. During a wedding day I need just two or three sessions of a few minutes each to get some lovely portraits of you guys and evening is one of the times I like to do this. As touched on earlier it means you get a bit of variety to your shots and a bit more interest.
I hope you enjoy this little look into the wedding day of these two young lovebirds!
