“I just want you for my own, more than you could ever know, make my wish come true, all I want for Christmas is you”.
Shustoke Barns weddings are always special but OMG this Christmas wedding of Melissa and Tom was SANTAstic (wow I just made that up!), Christmas, get it! Winter weddings are sometimes a little tricky, reduced hours of daylight, winter storms and freezing temperatures are not the most conducive elements for creating the best wedding photography. On the plus side though there’s Christmas trees, fire pits and mulled wine to look forward to so it’s not all bad.
Shot at the beautiful Shustoke Farm Barns Melissa and Tom’s wedding was held two weeks before Christmas on a not too cold December day! Starting with Melissa and the girls at a nearby hotel to capture some of the bridal prep it was then just a short drive to the barns in Coleshill to meet up with the guys and the rest of the guests and family.
The barns really are one of my favourite local venues to shoot at. The main barn is beautifully lit with candles and coloured lights which really create a wonderful ambience to the whole experience. My main praise though is for the fantastic massive arched windows set halfway down the length of the barn. Any good portrait or wedding photographer will tell you that natural window light is one of the best lights you can shoot in. With the ceremony taking place in the middle of the barn the bride is always perfectly placed for this soft natural window light to fall upon, check out the ceremony shots of Melissa below to see what I mean (especially the “OMG we just got married” look one)
