“…. no Montagues or Capulets. Just banging tunes and DJ sets. Dirty dance floors and dreams of naughtiness. Well, I bet that you look good on the dance floor”.
Swallows Nest Wedding
Swallows Nest wedding venue is not often on my radar, in fact so infrequently so that Sadie and Phil’s wedding was the first time I’d been there and you can’t get much less often than that!
It’s a great mix of the old and new with a modern glazed extension built on to the original 19th century barn. I’m tempted to throw in the old ”yah the juxtaposition between the modernity of the new structure coupled with the original red brick work capturing the architect’s..…” whilst stroking my chin but couldn’t think of a humorous ending so decided not to!
Seriously though it’s a great space with a lovely courtyard and surrounded by its own private farmland and nearby woods (check out those below). The new massively glazed space was the perfect retreat for when we had a few showers in the afternoon. The floor to ceiling windows let in so much light. Which for a wedding photographer is very important, after all it’s hard to take photos in the dark!
I started the day with the bride squad at the nearby Stratford Park Hotel to get the morning atmosphere with the girls. I always love this bride prep time, it’s a great way to ease into the day! After that it was a just a short drive to the barns to get a few of Phil and the guests arriving before the main event.
The best part of the day for me (other than the speeches!) was the time Sadie, Phil and I spent up in the woods and on part of the farmland for a 15 minute portrait session (I don’t take you away for hours! It’s your wedding day not a photoshoot)!
Only last week I got a lovely Thank You card from the guys.
To Damian
Thank you so much for being our fantastic wedding photographer. You captured the day perfectly and put everyone at ease (as can be seen by all of the smiling photos)!
All our love

After looking at these stunners you can view some more Real Weddings on my homepage. Oh yeah and make sure you scroll to the end to check out the dance floor! It got messy (…messier than that)!
