Being a West Midlands wedding photographer I get to see a lot of wedding dresses. And I mean a lot!

Choosing your own wedding dress is a very special lifetime event. But where do you begin? Hopefully this photo blog will give you a great starting point to enable you to narrow down the dresses you like.

Once you know the styles you favour you can then start to create a shortlist to try on or show to your dress maker. This is not going to be a word heavy blog with tips on how to shop for your dress (there’s a great guide on that here) This is more a pictorial feature for you to look at and decide on your dream dress.

OK OK here’s my first batch of wedding photos to get you contemplating about what might suit you. Just to let you know these are real wedding dresses worn by real brides on real wedding days in the West Midlands and Warwickshire! Not some hyper fantasy, bridal model with a 30ft long veil with an ostrich and peacock feather concoction totally impractical for a real wedding day (and shot on location in The Seychelles!)

Wedding dresses can be bought for a few hundred to many thousands of pounds, there really are no limits. I’ve seen beautiful previously worn dresses, dresses passed down through the family generations and designer dresses by the likes of Vera Wang, Justin Alexander and Maggie Sottero.

Remember to budget in for extras such as alterations and accessories like veils, belts and sashes.
